How It Works
functionalcapacityassessment.com.au connects you with an occupational therapy or allied health practice that does NDIS functional capacity assessments. You answer a few questions about the person and what the assessment is for, we pass your details to one suitable practice, and they contact you. It's free for you, and you're never locked in.
You Tell Us What's Needed
Who the assessment is for and their age, what it's for, whether there's NDIS funding and how the plan is managed, their postcode, in person or telehealth, and any deadline. Then how to contact you.
We Find a Practice
We pass your details to one practice that does FCAs, works with the person's age group and may have space, in their area or by telehealth.
A Practice Contacts You
They call or email to talk about the assessment, where it happens, the cost and timing. Nothing is booked until you agree.
What Happens to Your Details
We only pass your details to a practice that does functional capacity assessments and may be able to help. It goes to one practice at a time. If they can't help, we pass it to another, up to 3 in total, so you're not left waiting.
We ask for your consent first, because details about disability and support needs are sensitive. You can change your mind at any time by emailing hello@functionalcapacityassessment.com.au. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
How the Service Is Free
Practices pay us when we introduce them to someone who needs an assessment. That's how we keep the service free for participants, families and support coordinators.
It doesn't change what you pay. For NDIA-managed and plan-managed funding, practices can't charge more than the NDIS price limits. We only work with practices that meet our standards.
What We Are, and What We're Not
We're an independent matching service. We don't do assessments, decide eligibility or give advice about your plan, and we're not part of the NDIA or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. The practice you're connected with is responsible for the assessment, the report and its agreement with you.
Common Questions
How long does it take?
The questions take about two minutes. When a practice gets in touch depends on the practice. If there's a deadline, say so on the form and we'll pass it on.
Can I choose my own practice?
Yes. You're never locked in. Under the NDIS you choose your providers. If the practice isn't right, tell them or tell us and we'll look for another.
Will lots of practices call me?
No. Your details go to one practice at a time. We only pass them to another if the first one can't help.
Do you do the assessments?
No. We don't assess anyone or write reports. We pass what you need to practices that do FCAs, and they contact you.
Can I ask you to delete my details?
Yes. Email us and we'll stop passing your details on and delete them, unless we have to keep something by law. See our privacy policy for how this works.
